Membership Formal church membership is not an option if one reads Scripture rightly. God has ordained for his people to be rightly governed by ruling elders in order that the Christian faith may be passed down faithfully from generation to generation, the sacraments rightly administered, and the body of Christ grow in love as it works together in making disciples. God has no orphans. He puts us in families—particularly the family of God (Eph. 2.19-22; 1 Tim. 3.14-15). Membership classes are classes in learning how to live in God’s family. Presently, they are offered once a year and run about 13 weeks, from late January to the end of April. The material studied revolves around the six vows to membership. If you would like to consider membership at RMCC or attend the classes as a refresher course, please call an elder or the church office. It has been remarked over and over how edifying the classes are. |
